Sourcing route for US brands

Australian manufacturers for US brands.

Planning Australian production? Start with the product, first-order quantity and delivery destination. Australian delivery and US import need different questions in the sourcing brief.

FactoryTender can help structure a brief and compare responses within an agreed pilot scope. We assess project fit first. Supplier interest, capability, capacity and terms must be confirmed for your project.

Where will the finished goods go?

Australian delivery

Manufacture and deliver in Australia

Identify the Australian delivery address, intended market and required product evidence. Ask suppliers to separate manufacturing, packaging, testing and domestic freight, and state exclusions. This route does not include a later shipment to the US.

US import

Manufacture in Australia for US delivery

Add the US destination, proposed importer of record and appointed customs broker or regulatory adviser. An Australian manufacturing quote does not establish total landed cost or confirm US entry eligibility.

Prepare a useful first brief

  • Product, intended use and destination market
  • Formula or material status, packaging and first-order quantity
  • Samples, testing, documents and acceptance criteria
  • Target date and exact delivery point
  • Who will handle freight, import and regulatory checks
Use non-confidential information first. Agree confidentiality and file-sharing arrangements before sharing formulas, drawings or other trade secrets.

Check the US route before ordering

Ask your US specialists to confirm classification, customs value, origin, duties and additional measures, documentation, labelling and product requirements.

AUSFTA has rules of origin. Current US trade measures can affect Australian exports, so do not assume Australian manufacture means duty-free entry. Read the DFAT AUSFTA documents and current US trade measures.

Food checks may include facility registration, prior notice and labelling. Cosmetics have different requirements, including applicable MoCRA registration and listing; these do not mean FDA approval. Check product-specific requirements and exemptions using FDA food import guidance and FDA cosmetics guidance.

What the sourcing service covers

FactoryTender facilitates sourcing and comparison. It does not act as your manufacturer, importer of record, customs broker or regulatory approval provider. Supplier availability, compliance, clearance and tariff savings are not guaranteed. Paid scope, deliverables, fee and timing require written agreement.
